Why Aftercare Makes All the Difference
Brow lamination gives clients beautifully lifted, fluffy brows — but the results are only as good as the aftercare that follows. Proper aftercare protects the treatment, extends longevity, and keeps brows looking their best between appointments. Share this guide with every client after their service.
The First 24 Hours: What to Avoid
The first 24 hours are the most critical. The brow hairs are still setting into their new shape, and exposure to moisture or heat can disrupt the results.
During the first 24 hours, clients should avoid:
- Getting brows wet (no washing the face over the brow area, no sweating, no swimming)
- Steam rooms, saunas, or hot showers
- Touching, rubbing, or scratching the brows
- Applying any skincare products directly on the brows (including cleansers, toners, or serums)
- Sleeping face-down, which can flatten the lift
Days 2–7: Gentle Care
Once the initial 24 hours have passed, clients can resume normal face washing — but should still be gentle around the brow area. Key tips for the first week:
- Pat the brow area dry rather than rubbing
- Avoid oil-based cleansers or makeup removers directly on the brows, as oils can break down the lamination
- Begin applying a nourishing brow serum or conditioning oil (castor oil works well) starting from day 2 to keep hairs hydrated
- Brush brows into shape daily with a spoolie
Ongoing Maintenance
To keep laminated brows looking great for the full 4–6 week lifespan of the treatment:
- Moisturize daily: Lamination can dry out brow hairs over time. A lightweight brow conditioner or nourishing oil applied nightly keeps hairs healthy and flexible.
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure: UV rays can fade and weaken the lamination. Recommend SPF around the brow area.
- Skip retinol and exfoliants near the brows: These can accelerate fading and cause hairs to lose their shape faster.
- Brush regularly: A quick daily brush with a clean spoolie keeps brows looking intentional and groomed.
When to Book a Touch-Up
Brow lamination typically lasts 4–6 weeks, though this varies based on the client's hair type, skincare routine, and lifestyle. Clients with oily skin or those who use active skincare ingredients may find results fade faster.
Encourage clients to book their next appointment before the 6-week mark to maintain consistent results. Waiting too long between sessions can make the re-lamination process less effective.
What to Tell Clients Who Experience Irritation
Mild redness or sensitivity immediately after the treatment is normal and should subside within a few hours. If a client experiences prolonged irritation, itching, or swelling, advise them to avoid applying anything to the area and to contact you directly. A patch test before future treatments is recommended for sensitive clients.
Aftercare Products to Recommend
Stocking the right aftercare products to retail to clients is a great way to extend the value of each appointment. Look for:
- Lightweight brow conditioning serums
- Nourishing oils (castor, argan, or jojoba)
- Gentle, oil-free cleansers safe for use around treated brows
- SPF-containing brow gels for daytime protection
